SMAK & LOL kits

Hi Sharon here again and Saturday means a new SMAK & LOL post.

Have you seen this month's kits? Another pair of gorgeous stamp kits.

MAY-2017-SMAK-UNLEASH-YOUR-HAPPY

BEAUTIFUL-MOMENTS-MAY-2017-LOL

So I made a card using the May's SMAK kit.

I stamped the dragonfly, drops, bricks and sentiment in black ink. I then went over them to make a background with Brushos and water. Layered the images onto a dusky pink cardstock and adhered it all to patterned paper.  I then fussy cut some flowers from another patterned paper and adhered them around the circle. A couple of die cut branches were then added. And to finish it off I used some frantage to lighten the whole card up.

If you would like to look into joining the SMAK kit details can be found here.
And the LOL kit details are here.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Inspiration Wednesday

Hello Friends!

It's Mandi here with some Unity inspiration for you today :)

I have been in a bit of a creative funk lately.
I was sitting at my kitchen table a couple of weeks ago attempting to make a card and I just could not make anything.
I just had no inspiration at all. None, zero, nothing!!

I think it is something we all experience from time to time.
I just felt I needed a wee break to recharge my creativity again.
A couple of weeks went by.
Then yesterday I sat at my table again.
With pen in hand I was going to make a list of what inspires me.
I thought that might spark something inside me to create.

I had bunch of flowers on my table in a plain glass vase.
I just sat and stared at them in the morning sun.
The colours were so vibrant.
I loved the contrast of the bright pink and fresh green.
They were so pretty!
They put me in the mood to make something!

So I never got around to my list ha ha!!
I decided to make myself a new jar for my flowers.
Keeping with the colour scheme of the flowers.
I painted the outside of an empty pickle jar with chalk paint.
Then I dug through my stamps to find something that would look good on my jar.
I found this one it is called Hello Pretty
It really is such a lovely stamp.

I liked the idea of bottles of flowers for my jar of flowers.
So stamped and water coloured my bottles on to a square of regular card stock.
I went around the edges with silver ink and then distressed the edges with a knife.
Then I then glued it to my jar.
Finally I tied some white paper twine around the mouth of the jar.

Then I put my flowers in their new home :)
I hope I left you inspired to make your own.
Remember if you need some inspiration to create.
 Just look around you!
Every day objects may just spark some creativity in you.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

KOTM Monday

Happy Monday!
It's Kary here, I hope you had a great weekend.

Have you seen the latest Unity Kit of the Month?  It's packed with lots of Awesome stamps this month and I love that it's called Free Your Dreams.

If you already have this kit, I hope you are having fun with it.

Today I'm going to share the cards I've made with this kit.

I stamped and colored the birds and branch using Copic Markers, then added Distress Oxide Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans and Worn Lipstick around the birds image. I spritzed some water on a stencil and placed the stencil over the image. I love the effect, how the inks reacted with water to give it a watermark effect.
On this card, I placed a stencil over a white cardstock and added some inks over it. The cute cameras are colored with Copic Markers, fussy cut out and adhered with foam adhesive onto the card.

Lastly, here are 3 more cards which I shared recently on my blog...

The stamps are Gorgeous, aren't they?  If you would like to subscribe, please click here to read all about the benefits and perks of being a subscriber.

Happy Saturday Peeps!

It's time for some SMAK and LOL!
I love it when I get to do this post.
Look at May's SMAK!  I love it so much!!

It is hard to read the sentiment on the music paper in the picture.  It says unleash your happy on the world.  That corner stamp is AWESOME!  I really love it a lot!
I may have mentioned about a hundred times I have a giant passion for butterflies.  May's LOL did not disappoint me at all!  I embossed on textured paper and it still looks fantastic!
I hope you are all members of both kits!  They are worth every penny.  I'll never know how I can love the new kit as much or even more as the last kit!  It amazes me month after month : )
Thank you so much for stopping by today!
We sure appreciate it!
Have a great day!

Ok friends, time to get shopping!!! Make sure to check those sales and pick your faves!

Inspiration Wednesday

Happy HUMP Day Unity friends.  It's Kris here to share some inspiration with you today.

Before I start, let me say that there is no better place to look for inspiration for using your Unity stamps other than The Unity Show & Tell Facebook Group (HINT-if you don't already belong, click on the link and ask to join!).  I freely admit that when I'm stumped for a layout, or a color combination, or even stamp pairings...it's a go-to source of inspiration.

Now, I just love all kinds of animals, critters, and birds, especially birds.  We have a few neon bar signs hanging out on our back patio and every year some kind of bird (last year morning dove) seems to like to build a nest on one of the sign's transformers.  This year it was our little red-headed finches (well, the males have red heads anyway!).  They were born about 2 weeks ago and sadly (for me), they flew on Monday.  Here's my last picture of (any of) them.  When this little one woke up yesterday, Mom, Dad, and the other 3 babies had already left.  I could just see the bewilderment on her face.  Shortly after I took this, Dad came back for her and all is good.

No automatic alt text available.

Now back to my cards.  It seems that Unity provides us with a never-ending supply of bird images to color.  Some are part of a KOTM and some are stand-alone.  I just love them all.

The card on the left uses an image from the January KOTM-When You Smile.  The card on the right is a fabulous image from Tierra Jackson-Do Your Thing Birdie.

That's my birdie-inspiration for today.  Here's hoping your ideas take flight.  Have a fabulous week!

DT Tuesday!

Hello, beautiful Unity lovers!

Echo here with DT Tuesday.
I have a couple cards I made using the shaving cream technique.
Super easy fun technique! I made up a bunch of these backgrounds last week. I love using techniques were I make a bunch of backgrounds and then turn them into projects later. Let's just say I have all kinds of backgrounds just waiting for me to add some awesome Unity image to it.

The first one I made was using Give with all your heart kit. I also used the round splatter stamp from the March SMAK kit. The sentiment is from Donna Downey. I am more kit.

Here is a peek at the kits used!

 Shaving cream Technique!

So what I did was fill up a small baking sheet with about 1" of shaving cream. Not the gel kind. Just plain jane shaving cream. I got mine at the dollar store. Baking sheet is to contain the mess! Warning it is still messy but, you're not having fun unless you're making a mess....am I right? I also put down plastic on my table. Next I just added drops of my ink refillers in the desired colors I wanted. Then I took a popsicle and swirled the ink around until I got the desired look I wanted. I then pushed the prepared card panels into the shaving cream. Pulled up and wiped off with a straight edge. I used my plastic ruler. The shaving cream is a carrier of the ink. Once you wipe it off the only thing left behind is the ink. It is a super fun technique and you can make a ton of backgrounds. You can also use acrylic paint for this technique and spray inks as well! You can do full sheets of paper and cut later. I just like working with the standard A2 size card panel. I used white card stock 110#.

Makes such a cool marbling effect! For this card I die cut out a window on a white card panel. I stamped the panda. Fussy cut out bear and butterfly! Added die cut sentiment. The kit that was used is called Butterfly & a Bear.

Here is a couple of the backgrounds that I did using this technique!

I stopped in over at the Unity Show and Tell page. Let me tell you. It is such an inspiration everytime I go there. So much talent! Here is a few that caught my eye.

I just love this fun colorful card done by Shannon Pavlovic Edwards
That frosting looks like you can eat it...LOL!

Joany England Hanna did a fantastic job on these masculine cards!
I love everything about them from the layout, to the distressing, to the colors used!

and this lovely card by Sharon Seebacher Duff
She did a awesome job, look at that outstanding ombre effect on the jar and I also like the lace border!

Well, Unity friends. I will leave you with this!
Hope you have a good rest of your week!

Inspiration Wednesday

Hello, welcome to Inspiration Wednesday!

It's Kary and today I would like to share a card I made with this
Gorgeous stamp - Special Bond by Angie Blom. I love the image and the sentiments too.

I think some of you may know this stamp set was inspired by a photo of Angela and Whitney.  I love how Angela and Whitney work together - their videos are always so fun and they interact and complement each other so well.

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, people standing and eyeglasses

Here is my card...

and the close up...

On a white cardstock, I sponged some distress inks with a floral lace stencil.  On another cardstock the stamped image was colored with Copic markers and cut out and adhered to the stenciled card. I finished off the card with some sequins.

I will have the video soon to share how I colored this image.  I didn't manage to get it ready in time for this post.

Hope you'll have a wonderful day!

Happy Stamping!
